What do y'all think?
The Hawks IMO have to rebuild short term. We are not a young team that is expected to improve much. In other words, the roster that we had in place had hit its ceiling. Unless we can find a legitimate starting center by way of free agency or trade that can allow Horford to play his natural position of PF, then I believe we need to let Horford walk. I think he will walk regardless of my opinion, but I just think that overpaying to keep an undersized, average at best rebounding 10 year vet with two major pectoral injuries isn't wise.
Someone will overpay for Bazemore as the Raptors did with Demarre (altho with the salary cap about to jump up the definition of overpaying changes). Would love to keep Baze if we could tho.
Now to Teague. His contract expires after next year, but he had already sold his apartment in Buckhead and deleted all ties to the Hawks on his Instagram account. He was gone in free agency if we didn't trade him. That being said, I think getting a lottery pick at number 12 isn't a bad bargain. My only question is why did we let Shelvin Mack go only to replace him with an older and overwhelmingly whiter Kirk Hinrich? I am comfortable with Schroeder taking the reigns in this short term rebuilding process, but not with Hinrich as the backup. Expect us to sign a backup PG in free agency.
