This felt like the longest offseason of my life. I realize there is a life without CFB but I don't like it. CFB Saturdays are better than Christmas Day and there's no way you can convince me otherwise.
I felt like I saw a more animated Carson Beck at times in this game. Kirby challenged him to be more fired up with the team and the camera captured a few of those moments. His pocket presence is so good and then he consistently surprises those outside of Dawg Nation with his legs. I'm really excited to see the season he's about to have. Yet he's so humble. (refreshing)
I saw tons of Nate Frazier comps on here. I see Isaiah Pacheco with this kid. Great top-end speed, can lower his head and hit defenders violently, and has those herky-jerky movements as he's shot out of a cannon. Looks like an ADHD kid that's suddenly run out of meds for the first time in 4 months. And Branson will be fine, especially as the season unfolds. I re-watched the game yesterday and it seemed most of his touches had major breakdowns.
I know Yurosek was talked about all off-season but I think he's our 3rd best TE. Delp and Luckie are animals out there no matter what is asked of them. Watch them blocking, especially out in space, and you'll see them springing several of our huge gainers.
Daylon has continued taking off from about mid-season last year. He struggled big time but then just got better and better in the latter portion of 2023. It seemed he was draped all over Tigers everywhere he went. That long corner route where Klubnick dropped one in the bucket was perfectly defended. Now we need to find a Robin to his Batman out there at CB.
Another thread was talking about how Kentucky's best LB is Dumas-Johnson, Arkansas's is Sorey, FSU's is Marvin Jones, Jr. And then you see why those cats left with what we are trotting out there at LB. Good Lord, is this the best collection we've had under Kirby?
Couldn't believe the line dropped to 11 close to kickoff. I thought it should've been closer to 17 or so all along. 'Twas a great betting day as I parlayed Georgia over 33.5 points and Clemson under 14.5 points along with a straight up bet of Dawgs -11.
Blessed to have a wife that wants CFB on the TV every minute possible which gave me a chance to see a lot of great football around the nation.
Ashton Jeanty - if you haven't watched him play for Boise State, do yourself a favor and watch the best RB in the nation. He's fantastic. I was hoping I'd go into fantasy football drafts next year with his name under the radar but that ain't happening. He's a stud.
Cam Ward - A month ago I put a future bet on Miami to win the ACC and Ward is the reason. He might have been the most under the radar outstanding QB in CFB last year. I think he'll be in NY come Heisman time. So much fun to watch.
Didn't watch Penn St. but interested to see how the new OC changes that offense and Allar. Allar has been awful, in my opinion, and good QB play is all they need to take the next step. They are always loaded with freak athletes everywhere but QB.
Tetairoa McMillan is the best WR in the nation out in Arizona. Find him, watch him.
Finally, last night was a treat to watch Miller Moss at QB. He is fantastic and is going to put up outstanding numbers at USC but without the drama from last year. I'm sure he's a lot easier to coach for Riley as well. Looked like USC finally played some defense last night as well but Moss is going to win them a bunch of games.
