Fox's Bulldawgs played superb basketball against Ky until JJ went down. The best sustained basketball I've seen since Tubby left. It was a rare combination of intelligent decision making by players and a fast tempo that allowed our athletes to get in rhythm.

Equally important, Fox showed a side of himself he has too long kept hidden. His coaching decisions were not only smart and innovative, but he also took psychological risks that connected him with both players and fans. I didn't see that coming. I attribute our superb level of play not simply to his brilliant use of platoons to remain uptempo, but also to him risking to reveal more of himself.

Fox's new level of outward emotional investment came across in his interviews with the sideline reporter and in the expressive way in which he worked the refs.

His tone with players remained unusually positive and he got rewarded with fine performances from his seldom used substitutes who stopped fearing Fox's hook. He had committed to them that he would employ them in platoon fashion and the entire team responded. He allowed them to play with the same passion and risk-taking that he was coaching with.

Fox appeared truly to enjoy himself yesterday and that allowed us fans to enjoy the experience with him. Mrsgacard and I scared the bejeebers out of our two pet pups with our hooting, howling, and jumping.

What Fox accomplished and how he presented himself yesterday was one of the finest coaching jobs I've ever seen from any Bulldog coach. IF he continues next year to trust his players and trust revealing his emotions the way he did against Ky, our future will be bright.
