The mindset between LSU and GA is very telling.

By any measure, Les Miles and LSU has been way more relevant in CFB & SEC the last decade (including winning National title and SEC title), yet from everything you read, there is serious talk of him being fired after this season due to their 3 losses. However, Richt is seemingly safe despite constant and repeated seasons of under performing and his record against ranked teams. At the end of the day, I don't think Les will be fired due to the boatload of money it would cost the university. It does make you wonder about GA's mindset though doesn't it?

The decision has already been made. Richt will retire at the end of the season. Everyone else is gone, even Pruitt. McGarity stays.

Our mindset is that it's just not as important to us it is to those we consider to be our peers. We love the money, but we're not about to go out and risk anything, subject ourselves to situation that might imperil our overpaid job with a monster non-profit or our trophy position on a Board in order to be competitive in football.

O lord what I'm hearing it's a new guard and they want change

The boosters at LSU expect to beat Alabama every other year and sweep the rest of the SEC West every year. They are not remotely like the boosters at UGA.

LSU and UGA are the two winningest SEC programs this century.
LSU had a total of 5 seasons of 10 or more wins before Miles. he has 7 by himself.
I went by LSU's stadium during the summer it was expanded, maybe 1999 or 2000. I talked to some of their boosters and We agreed our programs were very similar and both only needed the right coach to become a force.
Well, LSU got Saban then Miles and We got Richt, both became forces.

It's odd how expectations change.

Well they have had some disappointed boosters then since the all time record between LSU/Bama is 50-25 in favor of the Tide. In fact the Tigers were horrible for a recent period in the 90's. During one 11 year stretch during that time they only had like 3 winning seasons and most were not even close. They are in danger of sliding back to the middle of the league. LSU record from 1989 thru 1999 by year:
'89...4-7

'90...5-6

'91...5-6

'92...2-9

'93...5-6

'94...4-7

'95...7-4

'96...10-2

'97...9-3

'98...4-7

'99...3-8

Oh, it's as important all right. And the "risk" is about the same all over the SEC except at Vandy. The risks taken on character have likely been absolutely at the top of the league and over a recent period the academic exceptions are in the top half of the league plus the fan support has been over the top. CMR did a good job then he leveled off and has been an underachiever for the past few years given the fact he has probably the easiest row to hoe of all the schools. I have been saying for a time he was put on the $$ after last year and has been given everything he asked for including tons of staff, analysts, extra this and that and the other. I think he is gone as well but I may be wrong since UGA is in a tricky spot. (3) options: Keep CMR and the staff intact. That way they take advantage of the extra menu items provided to the program, all the extra help and some of the people brought on board. Or: Fire the entire staff and hire the best man out their for the job. A name mentioned is Dan Mullen and there is no doubt that at this point that would be an upgrade. But I have no clue. Or can CMR and turn the job over to the DC. A guess is a fresh start.

Dan Mullen is an upgrade? Did you see the Arkansas game?
