Reagan’s Soviet opposition bore fruit the year after he left office. DOGE could be similar and payoff big for Vance. JD will take the MAGA torch from Trump and run with it. Won't get squirrelly like GHW Bush did after Reagan.

When you say the alternative, are you referring to Democrats or another pick? There are other Republicans I would have liked better as Vice President, but obviously I am not a fan of Democrats.
Not referring to the party - the person/people that are running is the most important to me (platform).

I think the momentum Harris had after she and pelosi forced Joe out was completely stopped by Vance. He turned the election imo. The minute he wiped the floor with waltz in the debate the election seemed to turn and run right over the democrats. And their approval ratings have only plummeted since then. The most important thing Trump did was make the right choice. Then vance challenging Harris to a debate was a stroke of genius. He stepped on their throats. Jmo.
The media and dems had created this weird narrative. Vance looked normal and tampon Timmy looked weird. And was massively out of his depth. Agreeing with policy Vance put out there. It was on par with Biden wiping the floor with Paul Ryan. Imo it was even a worse beat down.

I clearly recall the Biden- Ryan debate. I didn't really know that much about Joe Biden at the time, but he proved to be a real jerk. He was very rude, and I could immediately see what type of character he had. The only good thing about having him as president was alleviating Jimmy Carter of the title of worst president in modern US history. ( The worst in total history was James Buchanan as he was president jusy before the Civil Broke out - ironic that they both have the same initials).
Trump 2.0 is right to trust neither the media nor the bureaucracy. I hope he guys as much of it as possible before the mid terms.
Trump will have to step aside first. If his health is ok, he will lead the next ticket in 2028. He will find a way to justify it and the cult will support him.
I think Joe has the most interesting debate results in the history of our country. He benefited from low expectations for sure. People thought Ryan would crush him. Ryan came off stiff and Joe came off like uncle Joe. I do agree you could see his character. Or lack of it. He likely had one of the best debates of all time and easily the worst ever. Probably the only time a debate will cost you a chance to run ever again.
I think Vance is positioned very well. The Democrats literally have no leadership. And any candidates out there at the moment are massive trainwreck possibilities. The pubs have three or four candidates that are better than the left could put forward. Talk about a crash and burn. They are scared of the talk about Trump finding a way to run again at 82. Petrified. It will never happen, but he owns them so much they are worried about that two months into his term. Never seen a man live so rent free in other’s heads.

Imo there is a better chance he declares victory and resigns in year 3 due to health concerns rather than trying to run again. I would bet on Obama trying to run at some point over Trump going for a 3rd term.
Most U.S. Polls have Trump down in the 44-46% favorability range primarily over Tariff concerns, but the Democrats have been holding less than 20% favorability for some time due to the incompetent progressives assuming all the fraud and money laundering guilt.
Trump's polling numbers mean very little at this point because he's in the egg breaking stage of making his omelet. If, and I realize it's an if, Trump brokers a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia that gives the U.S. rights to minerals in Ukraine and modifies Putin's behavior, keeps a handle on illegal immigration and keeps liberal pols and judges defending MS 13 and TDA members, reduces deficit spending and gets the economy on track, his approval will be well over 50%. I could see a guy with his ego deciding to ride off into the sunset with his hand picked successor gaining the advantage of incumbency.
The Democrats are in the worst shape they have been in my lifetime ,and things look only to get worse with the progressives out defending the rights of Tren de Aragua.
Ryan was a deadman walking with ending social security, Medicaid and Medicare in his platform. He had the rich 2% vote.
The shift from Romney to Trump demonstrates the most significant political shift in history: When the left lost the working class and became the party of the rich and powerful. Obama’s desire to be hugely popular with celebs and the Clinton’s coziness with Wall Street and big tech opened the door. Limousine Liberals grew exponentially. Identity politics.
Had Biden governed in a way that reflected the reason he was elected, they had a chance to get it back. He was elected on a platform of moderation and a focus on common sense middle class “normalcy”. His string-holders pushed him further left than anyone thought possible.
