Me: When I was about 9 years old, up in the batters box, first pitch was coming right at my hade. What do I do??... I hit the ground like any normal 9 year old would do. Feeling relieved that I did not get hit, I am getting up and all of a sudden I hear the ump call "STRIKE"!!!....I witnessed my first curve ball at such a young age. My dugout was laughing, theirs, the coaches, the pitcher and the people watching.

Same game, playing left field (my only year, moved to infield)......I had a ball hit in my direction, I am chasing....chasing and all of a sudden I hit the chain link fence. I go over it, flip completely over and as I am getting up, I look & my coach is running toward me to see if I was okay...all I could think was, not again (embarrassment). Gotta admit, it scared the shat out of me. As I am getting up, we look in my glove...& I still had the ball, robbed of a home run.. All the people that were laughing, were now clapping. Memorable day, ...what you got??

not one damn thing...I was badass...pissed me off once when large

pile and ball carrier obviously lost ball...
I hoped in and recovered fumble....
ref flagged me for personal foul piling on...
did not matter that I had football!!
ended up costing us game....

Damn Kevin Litzenberger

We were down one and I led off the bottom of the last inning. Litz throws heat and I was scared to death. Somehow my late swing made contact and I just kept the ball inside the first base line past the first baseman. I stopped at first as the coach said. Things are looking up because in this league it's pretty easy to move from first to third if you have any speed and I'm White Lightening. The base coach tells me to run on the first pitch and I take my lead. Something distracted me and I looked down at my feet. Damn if Litz didn't turn and throw to first at precisely that moment. I got picked off and had to trot back tot the dugout with my head between my legs. Awful.

Litz was a renaissance man. He played clarinet in the band and brought the heat on the diamond.

LOL!!...most have some stories to tell if you played any length of time..

I can relate. It is funny how you can remember the last names, the pitcher's last name was Bedingfield. He went on to pitch at a major university.

On second thought....redacted *

In High School, I stole first base.....

I actually started by stealing second base....to this day, I swore I heard the ump call foul ball so I turned and trotted back to first...ball was still live...I just went back to first after being safe at second. Coach was PISSED. I was humiliated. LOL Still makes me mad 30 yrs later.

As a B team defensive tackle I tipped and intercepted a pass....

But it was on a two point conversion attempt. In the early 70s that just meant a dead ball, conversion unsuccessful.

However, I didn't know the rule and took off running. (people were chasing me) I was all the way to the far 30 yard line before I finally heard the ref's whistle who was chasing me down the field. My hope to actually score a TD were dashed.

I sadly and slowly jogged to my sideline to a mixture of cheers and jeers. Got laughed at again when coach showed the film clip on varsity film day.
