For some reason I keep seeing this strange narrative the last few days that Kirby struggles with mobile QBs and I can’t help but to ask where it comes from? It’s purely a Vent created myth. Let’s look at every Georgia loss since 2017:
2017
Auburn (reg season): Jarret Stidham - 3 rushing yards
Alabama (National Championship): Tua - 27 rushing yards
2018
LSU: Burrow - 66 rushing yards
Alabama (SECCG): Hurts - 28 rushing yards
Texas (Sugar Bowl): Ehlinger - 64 rushing yards
2019
SCar: Ryan Hilinski - 0 rushing yards
LSU (SECCG): Burrow - 41 rushing yards
2020
Bama: Mac Jones - negative 20 rushing yards
UF: Kyle Trask - negative 5 rushing yards
2021
Bama (SECCG): Bryce Young - 40 rushing yards
2023
Bama (SECCG): Milroe - 29 rushing yards
2024
Bama: Milroe - 117 rushing yards
So in our 10 losses since 2017, we have only allowed a QB to run for more than 100 yards 1x (this year with Milroe) and for more than 50 yards 2x (Burrow and Ehlinger in 2018). Our biggest problem has obviously been Bama in general but mainly NFL level QBs with NFL talent at WR/TE which is what every team in the country struggles with. So can we go ahead and bury the narrative that we ‘struggle’ with running QBs? It’s just false and people who repeat it don’t know what they are talking about.
