either:

* Someone still on that staff and probably not Tucker.

* Some one previously on that Saban staff who worked with Smart.

Probably be a youngish guy (30's/40's) and a hell of a recruiter. JP has laid the groundwork for Kirby to be successful at UGA pretty damn quick but he couldn't stay since he has done much of the heavy lifting and that might lead to human behavior and a natural rub. JMO.

It's got to be some outsider a big name

I like him just we have 3 denfensive coaches. Coaching the bowl I would bet that it's a outside hire.

We're down to 2 defensive coaches still working.
I think Kirby is more concerned with having Bama's D coaches helping him polish another trophy in Tuscaloosa than helping Us win this bowl game.
He also has Saban mentoring him to not worry his pretty little head about getting his staff in place just yet.

Lol I t think he has his staff

Has anyone ever thought the two producers on Paul finebaum look like the two guys on the sonic commercial.

His staf is in place just does not want to announce it.

If You have names, please post them.
I don't see any benefit to withholding names, unless He doesn't want them distracted from their current duties, perhaps they are preparing for a playoff.

Yeah, They're helping Him prepare Bama's defense.
Please explain who he might have other than A Bama coach who He would wait to announce.
Maybe he wants to drop a bomb shell on jan3 and cause Saban to poop his pants.

LOL! I figure they're from Bama and can't leave yet, or they are in playoffs and bowls and can't leave. Some coaches actually want to stick with the players they coached and recruited for the entire season. Then again, their contracts might not allow till after the season.

IF bowl games hadn't been stretched out so far with the NC game a week or more into January, this is the way it was for years. Fired after the bowl, hustle to get a coach who has to hustle to get a staff with 2 weeks till signing day. Of course, also back then, most kids knew where they wanted to go and stuck with it.

In today's world, with social media, blogs, tv sports (like Finebaum and others), ESPN, etc. we've made 18 yr olds into celebrities before they ever step on the field. And being 18 yr olds, they buy into the hype and can lead the "adults" around by their necks if deemed good enough.

Agree, if they are in the playoff, chances are the school wouldn't give permission to interview...or perhaps would give interview permission with that being a contingent (to say.) I don't think DC needs to be a big name, just like CMR, because of reputation, doesn't have to hit a huge name as an OC at Miami..I can say its a given, that if the DC is in the playoff, they aren't letting him leave. Could be a school in a big game that wants to stay or has a big pay out to leave before the bowl game....Whoever it is, they can't recruit now and they wouldn't come in and join team for bowl game. Plus, only way it could go, if coaching bowl game is badly....they would be calling someone else's plays and such as they aren't going to change anything in 3 weeks. Plus, consider that the players only on campus this week, then break for christmas, then meet in JAX on 27th.

Maybe signing day should be pushed back a month to make up for the late bowls and the all star games that have popped up in the past 20 years.

I don't know, interesting idea. Coaches, i would think, would have pushed for it if they thought it was a benefit they needed. Remember, early enrollees probably helps cancel it out a bit and is a much bigger benefit...never saw that back in the day.

I would like to see, like hoops, an actually utilized early signing period. Let those who want to sign in fall or summer, preferably before SR year starts. I would think some would like being able to enjoy the SR year.

I think We've cheated OUR players by treating Their bowl game as unimportant.
This will be the last time some will suit up for UGA. it will be the last time some will EVER play the game at any level.
I just feel bad everybody's attention has moved on, not to mention most of Their coaches.

Some times an original thought has value, not often, but some times. One thing occurs to me is how spring break lines up with the current schedule, I'm not sure if moving signing day would have a beneficial, negative or no effect on the big picture.

The early signing period has been kicked around for a long time, it could still happen though. We all know CFB is the slowest of slow institutions when it comes to making changes.

Since the playoffs just started, not sure it's really occurred to them because most aren't in that final game. But I remember after a few years of an SEC game, they started complaining of the 2 teams in it, miss an entire week of recruiting. Nothing's been done. Of course, now you have so many other ways (cells, emails, etc) to make contact. But.....even with those tools, these kids expect a visit.

I like the idea of pushing back signing day in a way. I don't think (but don't know) it would effect those that come early. I thought those guys counted on LAST year's scholly limit.

Same could be said at Memphis and any other school past or present, that their coach moved on or was going to move on....probably a bigger deal at Memphis really. They are coming of one of their best seasons ever..if not the best ever...whereas ours was a bit of a disappointment in how we lost games, not beating anyone worth a rat, etc...That said, post season trips, just like in any sport, come with lots of fun and lots of gifts. Heck, when i was on staff, even the hoops scottish rite tournament gave us great gifts...not by today's standards, but still.

They do if you have the room, i do believe. I just haven't heard any coaches talk about it and I do like getting it over before spring break, proms, graduation, etc...let the kids have a few months their senior year with it being over. That all said, not sure I would ever let my kid sign a LOI.

Memphis isn't My school though, and many programs do make an effort to keep their staffs through the bowl game.
Bama has more at stake, but We should consider Our obligation to the players as reason enough to make every effort to get a win.

And I think you'll get that. Some GA's may coach a bit, but I think we will be fine or not fine, based on things besides who the coach is. I was not happy Pruitt left before bowl (his choice, confirmed by him and others) and Schotty basically ran out of town after GT. In the end, it is a business, its how these guys feed their families, so i understand wanting to move on if opportunity is there.

Bowl bonuses could be holding some up. Now that recruiting is over, why would they leave early and not collect them?
Edit: I am agreeing with Dawgman94 by the way. He knows who his staff is, the OC was what mattered to secure Eason.
