It's already been a great 2022 for all things Dawg, and with Hudson Swafford's win in CA in January and Sepp Straka's first win last week in Palm Beach, the DawgsOnTour are certainly pulling their weight. Six of the nine Dawgs playing this week in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando are into weekend play, and one of the two Dawgs playing in the alternate event in Puerto Rico made the cut. Much has been said and written about the success of the 10 DawgsOnTour who have won on the PGA Tour in the past 10 years (Sepp being the latest), but today I would like to shout out to two of last year's Golf Dawgs who are showing out this week. Davis Thompson is a rookie on the Korn Ferry Tour (well on his way to earning his PGA Tour card) but is playing in Orlando this week and is even par (T31) going into his 11:00am tee time. That's a strong showing on a very difficult Bay Hill course. His teammate Spencer Ralston is -5 (T24) in Puerto Rico playing with no status in a PGA event. Don't know what is going to happen over the next two days, but anytime a player who doesn't have status makes the cut in a PGA event, it is rare and quite impressive. Look forward to seeing both of these guys make their way on Tour like so many before them.
And don't let forget to mention PGA Tour rookie Grayson Sigg (who also made the cut in Orlando though struggling today). Sigg has now made 9 of 13 cuts and currently sits 110 in the FedEx Cup standings. At this pace he is well on his way to making the PGA Tour Playoffs in his rookie season (another rare accomplishment).
It really is great to be a Georgia Bulldog!
