No, he isn't a great recruiter. He is also not a great game manager. Those are big flaws, but the easiest way to describe Fox's teams, are with 3 simple words: they can't shoot. That is not an over simplification of the problem, his teams really can't shoot. Fox does not recruit shooters, he recruits athletes. Georgia basketball is typically ugly for a reason, we have no other method available to us to win games, except by playing good defense. Athletes can play good defense, but most of them can't shoot. We are one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the country and every week we lose that battle. How many more games would we have won this year if the 3 point line didn't exist. Fox's inability to recognize this, and his refusal to recruit shooters, has been our downfall. Frazier sometimes can hit a 3, but that's pretty much it, most teams have 3-4 guys that can hit that shot. Fox has become so enamored with winning with defense, that he doesn't seem to put much thought into the offensive side of the ball. He has two plays, 1.) Frazier dribbles around and hopes he can launch a shot. 2,) Feed Maten down low. There is no third option. Maybe Crump could help solve this problem, but we'll never know, because Fox refuses to put him on the floor. It's very simple, you can't win at a high level in college basketball if you can't shoot from the perimeter, and Fox refuses address this painfully obvious flaw.
