First a disclaimer: I don't feel we are entitled to have all the details of the qb evaluation process.....or that we are entitled to know every detail of every practice.
Now with that established....
I really don't see the point in making the details of the 2015 QB competition G-14 classified. It seems that CMR has decided, "We aren't telling anybody, anything about the QB position, until the season starts". Ok fine...he's the coach and that is his decision. But I fail to see the point in that approach....especially when the season is days away.
Its going to be Ramsey or Lambert. Every defensive coordinator we face already knows that, so what is the purpose of the secrecy? What is the disadvantage of saying, "Brice had the better day today" or "Lambert was particularly sharp". The only thing I can figure is that CMR doesn't want the press and fans to develop a favorite....and for pressure to build on that individual.
I'm just saying providing some progress reports on the qbs shouldn't sabotage the 2015 season.
I also think CMR knows who will start vs. ULM (just my opinion) and is just playing games with the media etc. Its hard for me to believe we are this far in..... and he actually is uncertain about who will start in 8 days. Again, its gotta be one of 2....at the very most 3. Somebody has to be ready to take that first snap...and play that first series. I find it hard to believe CMR doesn't know who that is, and is not preparing that person for that time.
I just don't understand why keeping that information secret is such an important goal. What do we lose by saying "Brice Ramsey will start vs. ULM...but Lambert will certainly play". What is the problem with naming a starter, but also noting the competition is ongoing?
If everyone knows we are going to play 2 qb in the opener anyway, what is wrong with naming a starter. If we are 8 days away, and we can't name a first series starter....knowing 2 will play.....that concerns me.
