This was a head-scractcher to me

And, no, it's not a Bobo comment (sorry to disappoint).

After KY kicked their last field goal, Evans had a pretty good return on the kickoff, but a flag was thrown for holding. At the time the announcers noticed the flag, Evans was maybe around the 20 yard line. My thought was, "Oh crap, we are going to have to start on the 10."

However, KY took the penalty from the point of the kickoff and kicked off again, from their own 45. My thought was, "They are going to try an onside kick."

Instead the kicker hammered the ball through the end zone and we got the ball on the 25.

So, here is my question:

Was their only option to take the 10 yards and re-kick, or did Stoops have a brain-fart, opting to give us the ball on the 25 instead of the 10?

In the grand scheme of things it may or may not have mattered since we went 3 and out. Thorsen had a 57 yard punt, but had KY taken the penalty from the point of the foul, they would have gotten the ball back 15 yards further upfield. And neither team scored again after that.
