Those of you thinking Pruitt is the answer

State of defense is not our problem. Our offense leaves them on the field. We could use some of this energy on offense.

Pruitt's issues are with offensive coaches who clearly are not doing their jobs, I'm good with that.
Keep Pruitt and his coaches, force Richt to bring in a top OC who meets McGarity's and the board's approval and let's see how things shape up next season.
One thing is clear to Me, I don't want an OC based on Richt's comfort level with him. In fact I want Richt out of his comfort zone with a daring hire. If the best available coach runs a spread or hybrid, hire him and let committed players go elsewhere if it doesn't suit them. Catering to a recruit won't win in the long run.

He has been. He and CMR are a toxic mix. Lot of dysfunction over there right now at the BM Building

No, Richt and Schotty are a toxic mix, they are enablers. Richt needs an OC who is strong and sure footed enough to run his offense with little interference from Richt.

Trust me, CMR and CJP are like oil and water

Good, I want Richt out of his snooze.. I mean comfort zone.
He picked Schotty based much on his comfort level with him.
They are like a couple of weekend mechanics with the offense. They seem to just try anything with the hope they'll eventually hit on something. I want some surety, if Pruitt sees things he thinks are wrong, I trust his judgment over the offensive coaches.

U ain't gotta a clue, but in due time u will. Gonna be alot people saying WTF when all is said and done with this mess.

I do have a clue, they are all over the place.
It you've got something, by all means let's have it.
I know Pruitt has pushed Richt from day one. Most of the material changes were well past due. It could be Richt has had enough. In that case I wish him well.

There's no way Richt should be allowed to fire Pruitt, unless Richt himself resigns in the process.
One out of 3 areas on this team is heading in a good direction, STs and offense are disasters. Defense on the other hand is clearly heading in a solid direction. If Richt blows that up, he's lost his mind.

Dude. Your boyfriend's a dead man. Read back what you wrote. You acknowledge Richt is a disaster, but think we need to keep him?

Get the spunk out of your ear, it's crowding your mind.
I think we need a top OC, keep the defensive staff and let it run it's course.
If you know of a top coach ready to come to Athens, I'm ready to listen. Barring that our best course may well be to stay with Richt for now. Unless he insist on keeping Schotty or firing the defensive coaches, then there is nowhere to go with it.

Interesting discussion. Was just listening to the blabbermouth on 680 on way home & he (of course) claims to have inside info and quoting from a piece by Seth Emerson & Chip Towers & then Fran Tarkenton claiming that Pruitt is THE problem, that he has created a "toxic environment" and that there is "no way he will be back in Athens next year." Yet CMR came out yesterday & said they all are a "team" & work well together to get it turned around.

Personally I don't think CMR gets let go, unless he wants to leave. I think he gets one more chance to right the ship, but I agree that there will be change. Most have pointed to Shotty, but now fingers pointing at CJP...

CMR never got along with any of the decent DCs.

I was surprised when Bobo suddenly left to take the CSU job. There was nobody on the staff so thoroughly identified with UGA, through playing, coaching, and marriage, as Bobo.

Now I'm not surprised at all. I think it was a combination of Bobo knowing how bad the QB position was going to be, the likelihood that things might go bad in a hurry, and Pruitt's toxic personality.

It's certainly appropriate to challenge the status quo, as long as the challenges are made diplomatically and discreetly. It is inappropriate to make those challenges public, as Pruitt has repeatedly done.

Pruitt may be the problem but maybe only to the extent that he is hell for leather wanting to win n-o-w! And has damn little patience. They knew he was a fornicate, fight or run a footrace type of coach when they hired him. He played for a coach (Stallings) who believed wind sprints and four hour full contact practice would cure cancer then spent 5 years with another mild mannered, understanding boss. So if suddenly he is a problem then there is a real problem. Because he should be no surprise to anyone. I love Fran but I don't believe him or 680 if they said nobody expected JP to be anything but what he is. He may not be a member of the menses society but he is a tough customer in a tough game. No patience and not a lot of tact? Probably.

No patience and no tact = no future as an FBS head coach.

So Pruitt is THE problem when Richt's and Schotty's offense is the biggest joke in my 40 years of following UGA football ? Somebody care to explain how The DC has sabotaged the offense ?

I've never seen a clearer case of scape goating, and it's about as poorly schemed as the offense.

If fans buy this BS, they deserve a losing team.

That is pure bullshit. Bobo had been clear he wanted to be a HC, that is the whole story.
Are you people really this gullible ?

I don't think the problem his the on field product...although i'm not sold on him, Pruitt that is. He may be good, but this is his first build, and we have allowed a good amount of points both seasons when facing good teams. We are better, but this isn't FSU's already loaded D. From what I see, it looks like he has trouble with the bosses. I don't just mean CMR but those above him. Very loud, very brash, entitled, etc....Bet his Schotty is gone, Pruitt looks gone...if you cycle the whole staff, you should cycle Richt at the same time. As for folks who say hire someone outside Richts comfort zone and such (yet keep Richt) won't happen. CMR, just like Saban, etc..are the bosses of day to day with football, they have every right to hire their own staff...part because they have to boss them, but second because its an easy excuse if that area falters. The next 4 games will dictate Richts fate. At worst he can go 3-1 to keep his job, and that's if the loss is to AU IMO (on the road and overall best talent we face left, although underperforming) and it must be close if we lose it. If we lose to UK, i think he's done at 3-1. Lose to GT..done. Lose to GSU...OH GOD.....

This is crazy. Pruitt is recruiting great, the coaches under him are having no issues and the offense is clearly the cause of our losing, yet you believe the problems are caused by Pruitt...it's stupid beyond belief.

I am shocked but Richt is scape goating.

Once again, his problem isn't onfield...from what everyone indicates (not here, but reports) and from what i've heard through the grapevine. It his attitude. Anyone in business has seen a top sales guy, always over goal, get canned because he couldn't play well with others. Within the sales team or coaching staff...that is fine, but supposedly he treats people at the school like dirt...he demands things (and some aren't football oriented) from the AD, school President, etc... I don't care who you are..coaching at UGA or working at Krystal...if you treat the top brass and others like crap, you won't be there very long. Then it becomes less about your actual duties in a job and much more about you can't work well with others.

Pruitt hasn't had problems with HIS coaches on defense.
What this looks like to me is he told Richt the truth regarding Schotty's ridiculously bad coaching, Richt got defensive and has turned on him.

If Richt is our HC next season and Pruitt is fired, this program deserves whatever disaster awaits it.

Doesn't it seem suspicious that these negative stories about Pruitt only appeared out of Buttsmear the week Richt started getting real pressure and it became clear he might be fired ?
Do you think the DC is in any way responsible for the cluster duck on offense that put Richt's job at risk ?

This is just nuts.

Most of the rumors started day 1 with him. Most just chose not to talk about them for the good of the program. Now they're coming back to haunt us.

I like Pruitt's energy, etc. and recruiting. You are right, the offense has been horrible, disorganized, etc. and Shotty has been bad. He has put the defense in a bad situation pretty much every game and I admire Pruitt for taking up for his players. But it's the other issues OFF THE FIELD that are the problem and should not be tolerated. And the truth is, CMR is a terrible manager of personnel.

THAT is very clear. It took me YEARS to come to that conclusion because I loved him as a human being. Still do. Used to make excuses for him "family issues", etc. "He still wins", "bad breaks", etc. All were true. But this, Pruitt, is more than mis managing BVG/GARNER or Martinez situations. This is far more damaging to the program itself. And THAT is more important than ANY of them, CMR, Shotty or Pruitt.

I agree with the other poster. Success glosses over, big time, personality flaws. Example, if Grantham had great success here, he'd still be a jerk, but people wouldn't be talking about it, just that he is passionate. I don't think Richt was the leak, i think his good character comes about this...but perhaps McGarity's assistant, or another associate AD....who knows.

I don't think anyone directly in Butts Mehre is the leak. It would not be in their best interest to leak. I just don't think they'd deliberately bring all the press on their doorstep, even national press like USAToday yesterday.

The last thing I DO think, if the other rumor is true about influential boosters and/or board members called, word got out. That would explain Fran Tarkenton's remarks yesterday.

What a crock. The leaks from Buttsmear started this week. If you think it has nothing to do with the pressure on Richt you're willfully blind.
Nothing Pruitt has done has ''come back to bite us'' his defensive staff works well together, defensive recruiting is fantastic and progress is evident on-field.
It was completely obvious the problems are on offense, then these leaks started and people seem to have lost their common sense.
These little men have sabotaged the one area that was working, now I'm not sure if it can be salvaged.
If the self serving pricks hadn't sabotaged the defense we were moving towards having a defensive front 7 capable of dominating most every game.

UGA has no single, hugely powerful booster, who can exact change on his/her own. they have to form a committee to get things done, and the usual precedence tells us that their ego's won't allow them to agree on anything remotely resembling innovation.

I heard the same thing. He's an ass to all employees that don't work for him directly at the AD department.

I don't give a rip if Pruitt is a problem or not.

When has Richt made a good hire? Seems we have a hiring problem at the top.

Funny that VanGorder, Grantham and, now, Pruitt were all 'toxic" and all were passionate coaches.

Richt's gotta get gone

People forget Richt wasn't thrilled with VanGorder's intense personality.
Grantham is another story, he is not much of a DC in my opinion.
Pruitt would have fielded a championhip level defense by 2017. He would have several of the best DLs ever to come out of the state of Georgia coached up by Tracy Rocker and excellent overall talent.

State of defense is not our problem. Our offense leaves them on the field. We could use some of this energy on offense.
Wondering what your excuse was last year when the offense set records last year. Say what you want, same song an dance with Pruitt defense again..
With a big strong mobile QB today, could be another bad showing. I think we win though..

Nobody has said Pruitt's defense has been all it should be, but it is by far the best area of the team and projecting forward it was on a great track moving forward. This has nothing to do with the offense under Bobo, it's about deflecting attention away from maybe the worst coached offense we've ever had.
