He finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists (per my guy Justin Young). His team won and will play Crawford County for the AA Championship next Friday in Macon. UGA assistant Philip Pearson was at the game as well.
Still feel pretty much the same I have always felt about Harris. He's a big time talent. He looks like he's a legit 6'4 or slightly taller now and he's filled out a little bit. He's a ridiculous athlete. Pretty good shooter, although streaky. Handles the ball much better than in the past and did a good job of getting to the FT line tonight and converting (12-15). Made a couple really nice passes too.
I say all that to say this. He's going to drive Coach Fox nuts during his freshman year. I can already see this playing out a lot like Kenny Gaines' freshman year, although UGA's roster will be much better when Harris arrives. He's a very undisciplined player. It's going to take time for him to learn how hard you have to play in college, how to actually play team defense, and he's going to learn quickly that it's going to take more than his athleticism to be a good college player. He's a lot like Gaines in that fans will love him because he'll come in and make some ridiculously athletic plays, throw down some monster dunks, and he'll hit some 3's, but he won't know all the plays and he'll be lost defensively, and people on here will wonder why he's not playing more. Like I said above, it won't be as bad as with Gaines because UGA will have much better players at his spot than Sherrard Brantley, but I still think it will happen to a lesser extent.
Personally, I think Harris made the perfect college decision. I've always thought Fox and his staff do a good job developing players with skill, but I think what they really do a great job of is teaching them the game and making them smarter players. KCP is a perfect example of somebody that learned a lot about how to play in his short time in Athens. Harris isn't that level of talent, but I think he'll really benefit from playing for Fox.
