MUST NEEDS FOR AN ELITE 2016 RECRUITING CLASS(OFFENSE)
QB: With Eason we are obviously set.

TE: With the addition of Nauta and with Woerner as a flex option this leaves us with the best tight end situation in the country bar none. We are set.

RB: We've got Holyfield but with the uncertainty surrounding Nick Chubb's health we would be wise to add another solid back in the 2016 class. For the 2016 class to be considered elite we have to get a second running back for depth purposes. The only viable option left, now that Whaley is off the board, is Justin Crawford. So I guess you could call Crawford a must get.

OL: Cleveland, Dowdell, and Barnes are a nice start but ideally we still need two more book end tackles. However realistically we may only be able to pull one of elite status, which would be fine. While we would like to have two more tackles we can survive with just one. Allen, Bolles, and Dickerson all seem to be off the table or long shots at best which makes EJ Price a must get. I imagine Sam Pittman will push hard for his commitment.

WR: wide receiver is a sexy position that evokes great emotion and debate within our Fanbase. As much as I hate to say it we currently lack elite talent at the position. Due to our lack of depth and top end talent at the position, excluding Terry Godwin, we need to sign 4 if not 5 pure wide receivers. Wims, Ridley, & Davis are a nice start. While none of the three are considered elite they are all extremely solid 4 star options. To compliment their skills it's imperative that we add a deep threat receiver with straight line speed i.e. Nixon, V. Jones, or Simmons. Signing two of the three would be amazing but most likely we will look to bring in two athletes who could play both receiver or defensive back. Therefore signing only one more pure receiver would be more than sufficient that is if we can hang on to our current crop(fingers crossed). Signing one more pure receiver with game breaking speed would help to round out our receiving class and it would give it something that it is currently missing: over the top speed. With Eason's arm you want someone who can go get the ball. Coincidentally I see Tre Nixon as being both the most likely to commit and the person who best fits that mold. Charlie Woerner may also be considered as an option at wide receiver but due to his ever growing size his future may ultimately be as a flex option.

ATH: At both defensive back and wide receiver we lack elite talent like many of our SEC competitors. The state of Georgia may have the best class of 2016 athletes in the nation which presents us with a huge opportunity to close this talent gap. Robertson, Hardman, & Calloway are all three elite talents that could come in and see early playing time at wide receiver with the potential to develop into long term shut down corners for UGA. It is imperative that we sign two out three of the previously referenced targets. If not we may come to regret it in the years to come and any chance of a #1 class are gone. Georgia is obviously heavily pursuing both Hardman and Robertson but it continues to baffle me as to why we have not and are not heavily recruiting Callaway. I think if we make it clear to him that he is a wanted man he will reciprocate our interest with a commit.

*Note: we will save defense for another day.

Crawford and Vaughn and others are talking about going to UGA. I think dline and wide outs are the keys

Yes I would be very interested in both Vaughns and Crawford however they are both currently committed to other schools and the likelihood of flipping them to me at this point seems unlikely. That doesn't mean that we don't do our due diligence if and when they schedule an official but on the other hand we would be idiotic not to primarily focus our efforts on more realistic targets.

Yes we have a lot offers we don't know who.

But I do agree with you on the fact that both the wide receiver/athlete and defensive line positions will be extremely crucial to the success of our 2016 recruiting class.

My article was pretty much written to show the current state of our 2016 class and then to make projections on how to best complete the class according to our current needs. I've tried to be optimistic in my projections while at the same time taking into account more realistic expectations considering CKS has only been on the job for less than a month now. My guide to finishing the perfect class while hopeful is very much a realistic possibility. Yes our class could've potentially even been greater than my projected class had certain earlier recruits not committed to other schools i.e. Kyle Davis but giving our current situation I feel this is the best that we can hope for.

We had the #1 pass defense in CFB in 2015, that seems pretty ''elite'' to Me.
I hope We get Hardman for defense and Robertson for offense, but both are trending away from UGA at this time. If We can land Nixon We should be ok at receiver, but of course I want all the 5 star talent We can score.
The Guy We need most is Derrick Brown, followed by Burns, Who is likely going to UF, then EJ Price.

I can't recall a finish quite like this for Us. We are right there for 5 more 5 stars, but We're only trending for Brown at this time. Well, We seem in good shape for the Alabama LBs, but I can't help feeling pessimistic about pulling them, We've never taken a 5 star from that state.

Something to consider about the 2017 recruiting cycle.
These national talking heads have said We should have a monster class. What Everybody seems to be ignoring is We've had back to back all time great defensive front 7 instate talent in 2015/2016, especially the DL. We've taken good advantage of it.
That level of D front 7 talent is not there in Georgia high schools in 2017. All of the very elite defensive talent is best suited to play DB. There are no Derrick Browns or Trent Thompson, not even the level just below them.
If We're going to match or beat the 2016 class, Kirby is going to have to recruit out of state at a very high level.

Two solid posts.... Like your analysis... The next two, weeks is going to be a interesting ride!

Yes but rember Kirby learnd from Bama Saban.

Learning from Saban doesn't guarantee He will be a top recruiter as top man. Kirby has always sold The Saban/Bama brand, and never without Saban in His corner.
We're going to learn how good KS is when the buck stops with Him.
I think He'll be a very good Head recruiter, Saban good ? very few have ever been that strong.

Yes Kirby must prove why we wrote the checks.

So far KS has done a tremendous job recruiting. But there is enough talent on the team already to be about as successful as any program in America. Putting in the work, buy in, and commitment to excellence is all that has been missing. Those things come from the head coach. CMR could replace coaches and recruit well enough but he could never nail down the part that separated the program from the one that all others are trying to emulate. We have a fresh start and it is key that everyone give these coaches and Kirby 100% support. And remember the changes he is making are not coming from any sort of vacuum, he learned from the best. The rest must come from his drive and determination and the support of Dawgs everywhere. This is no slam at CMR, but there is a reason he is now at UM. You can wish him well and that is no jab at KS. You can be excited about the fresh start and support the new staff 100% and that is no reflection on CMR. But remember there are always reasons for change.

Great points and nicely put. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Thanks for the kind feedback. I hope to post a similar thread in the next few days only this time I would like to take a more in depth look at our 2016 defensive recruiting class. At which time I want to anyalze our current class as it stands and further discuss who we might realistically add between now and NSD.
