Also, I’m having a hard time keeping this straight, do we not like Mitch McConnell now? Did Donald Trump tell us to hate somebody new?
No, just another guy who serves himself and not the American people.
Hate him? No but you can't deny that he represents the Pub party Trump was hired to defeat and is a shining example of a swamp pol that will hang on to their power until they are rolled out toes up. Of course McConnell (when his brain was still functioning) was willing to tell anyone that would listen about the goodness of Joe Biden. I guess two guys that had such good grift schemes going would love each other.

McConnell did some good things like get a lot of Trump’s judges confirmed. However, he is an ancient swamp creature that works to maintain the status quo. He hates Trump, because Trump is the antithesis of the status quo.
Mitch wasn't a RINO, he is precisely what a Republican was. The problem is that the Republican Party always hated Republican voters.
Trump changed that.

And a lot of Pub voters hated the uniparty pubs. Love or hate Trump, he gives a voice to at least 75% of traditional Pub voters that only voted for Pubs because Dems are batshit crazy.
Trump did what Reagan was elected to do, which is fundamentally change the GOP. Reagan, for all of his other qualities, made a huge mistake in bringing in the Bushes into his administration.
Admittedly, Trump almost made the same mistake. Thankfully the old guard couldn't hold their nose enough. It's also why some of the potentially valid faults of Trump - holding classified documents, Jan 6, etc - were net positives by separating the institutionalists from the new guard.
