This season, for very different reasons than the past several years, is going to be a long, agonizing, gutwrenching, hopefilled, disappointing at times and joyous at others trek. Our team and the conference just seem to be set up for that situation this season. The sec is loaded with teams assured of dancing and more. We know enough about our team now, that we recognize with some breaks going our way, and no bad injuries, this team is capable of making the tourney outright, winning the sec tourney, or as it pessimistic as it sounds finishing near the bottom of the conference.
I hope, and believe, that most of the regular posters here will maintain a sense of balance and reality as this season will truly be gutcheck time.. Some will overreact and post nonsense that will leave most of us shaking our heads. Visitors from across the way will leave, shrill, uninformed rants about our team and program history. Thankfully most of those type are brief.
We will be in a lot of tough, close contests that will be excruciating to watch and simultaneously exhilarating and fun. Unfortunately I am a thousand miles away and can only watch by myself, or with my poor wife who can take some of it. I miss my ol bud that used to talk with me on the phone through much of the games.
I never watch any meaningful sporting event live and haven't for years because I can't stand sitting through all the commercials and, at least for me, it's just as exciting as watching live. Even better, if it's a great game. I can just keep the action flowing as I wish, in case I need a beer, break etc.
