really hate losing the series when you get that first win. Our freshmen pitchers were freshmen the last two days, although Hancock did pile up the K’s... the bullpen really had to throw too many innings the last two games.

Fielding was disappointing today, but it’s a frigid, windy afternoon on that turf field... if ever there was going to be a game where we struggled in the field, it was going to be today.

Thursday afternoon, when I made my “previewing Vanderbilt” post, I almost concluded it with “I’ll be happy if we can get one”... I didn’t because that sounds a bit defeatist and besides, if we could get the win in the opener, then we obviously wouldn’t be thrilled with 1-2. Still, that was my thought on Thursday... it’s tough to play up there and our bullpen was a little short after the tech game two nights before. And Vandy’s back was against the wall, etc. To that end, this weekend wasn’t a disaster or anything. We’re 8-4 in the league. That’s fine.

I am starting to worry about overusing Kristofak, Locey, and Kevin Smith... it’s be great if we can have another guy emerge... I’d love to know what’s going on with Christian Ryder as he hasn’t pitched very much at all this year and certainly not for awhile.

Big series with Kentucky next weekend. But hell, they’re all big at this point...
