I wondered the same. Everyone knows that Asheville is a liberal work city so I’m not sure why he’s going that route.

Well, there is an indoor venue right next door that is three times the capacity so you can stop imagining.

Maybe he didn't want it to look empty (you know how he loves his crowds) and maybe he couldn't afford more than the $82K that they made him pay upfront. Supposedly he is going to address the economy so it will be interesting to see if he can stick to that (it would probably be the first time).

When I heard this I didn't understand why. He should have picked the Johnston County / Smithfield area. Right outside of Raleigh and went heavily for Trump last election. It's the largest "Red" stronghold in the state.

Everything outside of the downtown district is still there and thriving. A few months ago the downtown business owners were up in arms, with the city council, about the crime hurting their businesses. Maybe they should quit voting for the dims that run(ruin) the downtown district.

They are keeping demonstrators in areas blocks away. But after the event is over, attendees need to walk back to their cars in large groups. Couples could be in danger if they walk back alone, especially wearing maga gear.

I kind of like it when he campaigns in unfriendly areas. NC is still a battleground state, and he needs to pick up votes amongst independents and Democrats, not diehards.

Agree on downtown but get a mile from downtown and it is a great place to visit, especially if you are a craft beer drinker. My favorites are Highland Brewery and Hillmans.

The WNC center holds 3000. Cherokee center holds 7600. Trump has a thing about crowd size.

His venue options are limited, after stiffing many of the prominent middle sized cities across the country.

While I agree trashville and buncombe co in general is a shithole, there has to be reason behind it. I don’t know what their strategy is but there’s no way the campaign would have picked this isolated blue spot as opposed to choosing one of the red areas in the region that dwarves it, unless there is some strategy behind it.

I don’t think location matters that much, his fans will go and sell it out, but he will get much more exposure from the media in the state. He went to Hendersonville 4 yrs ago though.
