AI reminds you of the Segway? I think you may be underestimating the impact that AI is already having, much less what we will see in the next five to ten years.
Not only will AI reduce the workforce needed to run the federal government (as outlined above), it will reduce the need for human labor across the board.

@-lowcountrydawg mentioned entry level financial analysts in another thread. You’ll need 10% or fewer of those and similar roles that we have now.
The entire middle management structure at just about every major corporation will be completely eliminated in less than a decade (probably more like five years).
The jobs structure that currently supports capitalism and makes it work so well is going to completely reset.
The big question is what are those millions of people going to do with themselves when the economy no longer has a role for them. It’s going to require some very innovative thinking, with a redefinition of what adding value to the economy and society means in the new world.
