DEI hurts minorities and it comes from the condescending mindset of white guilt. When companies start making diversity hires to meet corporate DEI goals, it is obvious and everyone looks at the employee as a “diversity hire”. This hurts legitimate minority candidates because they get thrown in same bucket as DEI hires.
