Underrated point in re the QB battle

One point that I haven't seen here is that the QB are being evaluated versus CJP's D. There's only so much evaluating that can occur when throwing against air. Last year CJP was able to cobble together a pretty stout pass D with fairly average talent in the DS so I'd imagine that the D is significantly better this season since he's got done incoming talent to work with. This causes two issues with QB evaluation: 1st, the windows are much tighter than they would be in a live game which would lead to more mistakes; 2nd, if a QB does hit a big play, then there's a higher likelihood that there was a mistake by one of the younger DBs. A pass that would seem like a great read and throw against a lesser D might just be a blown coverage or a mistake against our current D... or even that the QB is holding the ball way too long. For a situation where the competition is obviously tight, this only makes it that much harder to separate from the pack.
