Aside from other issues and considerations, a potential problem resulting from the Missouri FB team's action is that it places all other A-A athletes at risk of being intimidated by activists to take a similar action when they might not really want to do so. It is foreseeable that some activists with unreasonable, inappropriate, or counter-productive motives could accuse A-A athletes of being traitors, selfish, etc. if they refuse to cease participation in their respective sports unless the administration capitulates to some demand by the activists. Even though the athletes might not agree with the demands, they would feel pressure to cooperate. That is unfair to the A-A athletes.

Maybe, maybe not. We all have the right to make our own chooses. That's why God gave us free will. Athletes may have felt the pressure to respond? Responses can occur in many forms. That's what's great about this situation, young people from all backgrounds fought for change and got it, whether pressured or not.

Two people lost their jobs for acts that they had no hand in. They were targeted because of their status and the screaming mob was placated because they were screaming loud enough. Racism is definitely a present problem, and not just in the south. But making the president and chancellor fall on the sword is not going to change anything on campus there and it isn't going to do a thing about the larger problem of racism facing our world.

So let's pump the brakes on how this situation is so great.

this will probably be moved to the chat but wow.., there is nothing at all that came out of that incident that is good. There are several media outlets looking for proof of the alleged poop swastika. Repeated emails and calls to the protests organizers have failed to produce any results of evidence. The RA in that dorm never saw said poop, nor did anyone else called about the incident. There is literally no proof but the word of people that have an agenda. The alleged racial slurs we perpetuated by passers by, one in a pick up truck. Also no evidence, just someones word. This is a dangerous precedent set by Missouri. . Just what was the prez supposed to do with incidents lacking any evidence that they even occurred much less any witnesses. Same with the alleged racial slur from the passing pick up truck .Meanwhile a seemingly innocent president is without a job.

I want to tread lightly on this thing and start with a basic premise: I'm a white male and so I have no idea what it's like to be truly discriminated against. If the President was somehow created or fostering an environment where black students did not feel safe or welcome, he absolutely had to go.

Now, having said that, I've read many stories on this thing and I just can't find any justification for firing the President. I fail to see what the nexus is between a random person yelling the n word at someone and the Pres needing to be fired. Maybe there's more out there that I haven't read, and I hope there is. Because I would hate to think that this guy lost his job over this kind of stuff for no reason.

The same mentality that would fire the all time winningest coach during a winning season, is the same mentality that would sweep away the jobs of others for not getting exactly what they want , when they want it

You are entitled to your opinion. To me, me, it's great to see young people rally for change. The president is responsible to oversee the university. MU students and faculty voiced their displeasure and felt the president's actions created problems and did not reflect MU values. So I do feel great about young people protesting. It was not just racism, there were other social issue problems too. Graduate students protested about their insurance. The president is the leader, and some students and faculty felt he did not fulfill his duties. To me, based on the articles that I read, he lost his job because of a series of events that caused MU students and faculty to rally for change. If it takes someone losing their job, so be it. The president admitted to not listening to the students [the people that pays his salary]. His resignation allows someone else the opportunity to do better. The last sentence is similar to all the post that I read about wanting a new head coach at UGA- giving someone else the opportunity to do better.

Change? Since when has change for the sake of change been good. And since when has all change or even the majority of change been a positive. You get up one day and discover you have cancer, that's change or your wife leaves you with the kids, that's change or you get fired from a job for no reason, that's change.

These people are basically anarchists, they want to abide by zero laws, processes or authority nor any structure. The president represented the rule of law/and authority so they wanted him gone. And made up some weak BS, recruited a disappointed group of football players to their side by BS'ing them and fired a guy who bears no responsibility for their lies. The cat is out of the hat now. Georgia has a big game Saturday, so what if someone like an SGA official says three white guys in a jacked up pickup with a confederate flag in the bed and it was painted UGA red and black yelled the N word at me and my friends and I want the game cancelled Sat. If M Morehead refuses they call for his resignation because of his microaggressions and also that of the AD. And they swing 40 of the football players into a boycott of the remaining games. That is what happened and it will happen again and in The SEC. Maybe everywhere.

I don't see why players would be intimidated. On the other hand, anytime a door is opened, odds are increased others will go through it.

A more interesting question is how this precedent might lead to those interested in some sort of player unity developing into a movement towards unions, or something less official that might force management to yield to changes. Players know they have power now, the genie might be tough to corral.

You lost me. Change is not good? And please not the ifs. Again, you're entitled to your opinion. Change is inevitable. Have you thought about why you are no longer a baby, or why you did not stay in elementary school? Change. If you're not moving forward, then you're standing still. I prefer progression. Depending on what lens you use to view life, change may not be good. You have the same rights as the students at MU, so rally and protest the president's resignation or whatever you believe in. Good luck!
