I understand the need for unions in the private sector. But government employee unions seem redundant. Doesn't being part of government already afford one all the traditional, above average benefits, like earned vacation and sick leave along with all holidays, etc., etc., etc.???

i really don't think unions play a needed role today , they did in the past . private sector unions are only 11% , people don't want them any more .when walker made wisconsin a right to work state, over 50% of teachers opt out of paying dues .
