.... there are TWENTY-TWO PER DAY!! Twenty-two times today (according to measured averages), a veteran will take their own life. There were twenty-two yesterday. There will be twenty-two tomorrow, twenty-two on Sunday. I can't wrap my mind around that.

I remember, as a child, the stories of men coming back from Vietnam and the horrible things they experienced, having to face the possibility of shooting and killing a woman, a child, having seen them sometimes strapped with bombs and such as that.

How can a human comprehend that depth of evil and destruction?

The stories people tell of their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan are as bad and worse.

My heart really goes out to those struggling with PTSD.

Beautiful girl takes her own life

I had a real good friend in high school who got killed about five days before he was supposed to come home from Viet Nam. I think he would have sorted it out. My SIL's brother.

Man, how tragic. I know a guy... haven't seen him nor talked to him in years.... who served in Vietnam. His story he told was that they day they came to him to notify him of his orders that his tour in Vietnam was finishing up, and he was heading back to the states, he was then sitting in a chair, suntanning, and his ear collection was laid out on the ground in front of him, drying out in the sun.

People get in those situations and circumstances in war, man, one can dramatically change. They have to acclimate themselves to what they are dealing with on a daily basis. When a hell-bent enemy is your primary focus, 24/7, and it is a matter of your life or their life, who knows what a person is capable of becoming.

Then, try to plop them down back into day-to-day American society and expect them to just deal with it. Nah, that's bad. These poor folk need whatever help is required, and we, the taxpayers, should be humbled to be able to pay for it, regardless of the cost.

But they don't pay for it and you are right, it's a shame. Gov't

had rather give it to buy votes.

Yep, just one more facet of the level of corruption we have in DC.

I've had a very low opinion of the federal government for a very long time. It only keeps getting worse, and I didn't think that would even be possible.

Not like the movies. Good friend shot himself in his garage. Some people can't handle the killing. Still have buyers receipt for his new 68 Ford pickup.
