"The refs are why we suck" Vol: Constant holding and PI by Florida right in front of the refs who could care less. We made a lot of mistakes tonight but the refs were the real difference maker.

"We wounded ourselves. The refs gave the kill shot." Vol: They certainly made a difference in our attempt to make a comeback. But we got ourselves in a hole by poor discipline in the secondary and inept offense due to pre-snap penalties.

"Back to pull ups for Heup" Vol:
The correct way to look at this is Tim Banks and Huepel wet the bed and when they got things better the refs stopped any chance of a comeback.

You're also forgetting Mertz was hurt. How bad is the score if he's healthy?

The Sting Vol:
There needs to be a public facing review panel that grades officiating. As gambling on college football (all sports really) continues to become more available and prevalent, the temptation to fix these games must be squashed. If a game were to review poorly in regards to officiating, all bets should be void and monies returned flat.

I’m not a gambler personally, and I don’t think that officiating cost us this game. I do feel this has to be addressed though

Truth Vol: If you have to rely on the refs to beat one of the worst Florida teams in the last decade, you probably aren’t a good football team

WTH? Vol: Let’s not act like UGA and blame everything on the refs. We stunk. Plain and simple. Were there bad calls? Yes. But we played and coached like garbage.

Champions of Life Again Vol: Can’t pin this on the refs. This is a bad football team. We let AP hang around. Southern Illinois crushed them. We are playing FCS ball. Get ready to lose to SCjr, Mizzou, UK. 6-6. And lose a recruiting class. This team is not tough or skilled or well coached. Another embarrassment. It is what it is. I hoped for more. Here’s to 3rd or 4th in the East.

"The refs crapped on any chance of getting a 2023 season UT commemorative book" Vol: They possibly took 21 points away from us tonight

"Uncle Joe threw it over them mountains, but he was trying to hit a base camp tent" Vol:

I would rather go .500 this season with Nico than see Milton start a single down from here on out.
And I damn well mean it. I am sick of this show. He is gone after this year anyway. Just do it and get it over with. We get to look forward to growing pains next year the longer we keep him in.

Nico's agent Vol: Don’t risk injuring Nico behind this garbage o-line. Let him stay healthy so he can transfer to a decent program and have a future in the NFL.

"Remember when Willie made Crompton look like Peyton Manning in 2009?" Vol:
Willie Martinez is the opposing team's MVP. Tim Banks comes in 2nd.

As long as those two are on the Vols roster, this team will never...never...reach its' potential.

Fact.

"Amazing how when you don't score points you realize your defense is complete ****" Vol: Biggest disappointment tonight was the DL. Front 7 is a big fraud apparently.

"It took teamwork" Vol: Milton didnt play defense, Milton didnt jump offsides....the whole team played terrible tonight

"Sling Blade was eating french fried taters from the stands in the fourth quarter" Vol:
we got outcoached big time by Billy Napier of all people. The defensive players were repeatedly confused as to where to line up in the first half. But Florida wasn’t using a hurry-up offense, and they were running the same plays that they did against Utah. This was all about preparation; they should have known how to lineup against the pre-snap movement.

The offense was as undisciplined as ever. Way too many self-inflicted wounds with penalty yardage (mainly from the offensive line) and wasted timeouts because they couldn’t decide on a play or get the WR and RB lined up properly. Even if the offense was humming (it wasn’t), you can’t expect success when every drive has a 2nd or 3rd and long to overcome.

The jumping offsides on 4th and 1 was beyond stupid, but the coaches and the on-field leaders needed to be yelling at the DL not to jump.

And speaking of timeouts…the timeout at the end of the game was pointless; the outcome had been decided. The melee that ensued was predictable. Everyone knew Florida would just run the QB for as long as possible to run out the clock, and it was no surprise that a frustrated Tennessee player would try to get a shot at the QB. There was just no need for this at all, and Coach Heupel was responsible for it.

It was not a good night for our coaching staff at all.
