Good luck. How many blue ribbon commissions have newly elected presidents (of both parties) established that did a whole bunch of nothing in this space. Bureacratic inertia is powerful.
I think we can all agree that every blue ribbon panel in the past was singing from the same song book as the people they were supposed to be auditing. Now, I certainly don't have great expectations that we'll see DC turning into a bastion of morality and those overseeing our treasure will start spending wisely but I do think shining some light on the corruption can't hurt.
Heck, I heard Comer doing an interview recently and he was talking about mitigating fraud by updating our tech. He said we were operating on systems from the 80s that were easily hacked/manipulated and we know millions are being spent daily but we don't have the capability to claw back the money. Imo, you don't have to get it all but you need to start somewhere and if you are mailing a check to a Nigerian prince everyday, it's a good idea to stop.
