this weekend.

UMass Lowell gave up a whopping 69 runs in a four game series in Tucson against Arizona last weekend. You may be surprised to learn that UMass Lowell was swept.

Looking at the league slate this weekend, I am a bit jealous. Arkansas plays a three-game set at Southern Cal. Kentucky goes to Texas Tech. Tennessee hosts Indiana. Vanderbilt hosts Pepperdine. Florida has their yearly series with Miami. Ole Miss goes to Tulane. Miss State plays Southern Miss.

I know we have five games with tech and Clemson. I get that. And I get that those games plus our league slate should protect us a bit when it comes to strength of schedule. Still, you’re seeing a number of teams in the SEC playing legitimate competition this weekend. We are playing a team that may not be able to win the 7-A state title against Georgia high schools. Who does this really benefit?

Maybe we ought to play Arizona and UMass Lowell could play Dayton.
