Beats 2013 when we lost a starter on defense and the game.
Beats not needing a late TD to force OT vs Jacksonville State and several minor miracles to win in OT.
Beats not needing a late 4th down TD bomb to beat UVA.
Beats not trailing Arkansas State at halftime.
Beats struggling at home with Lamar.
Darn sure beats losing at home to Toledo.
That said, there's a lot of soul searching necessary with the offense.
The running game is solid, we just need to hope that the CBS and CMR get their heads out of the rears and play to the strengths of the team. I am so over people thinking that the QB has to be the greatest drop back passer in the world. All we need is a distributor to the real play makers.
Chubb is going to get his and we have a stable of RBs who can gain yards. Michel is a threat from the backfield of out of the slot. McKenzie is a threat just touching the ball. We also have several quality WRs and TEs. We're too obsessed with making the QB look like Brady or Manning. This is college ball, screw the forced pro style. We need a play maker at QB to go with the play makers at all other positions.
Either play Bauta and see if he can light up the score board with the skill position play makers or play B1G (non-OSU) football and run until the cows come home. Pro style balanced or favoring the pass isn't working with these 2 QBs and it didn't work with Mason last year.
Our best bet could be running out of the I with Hicks at FB clearing holes for the rest of the RBs. Leak the TE out for an occasional PA pass along with GT-like deep passes to Mitchell and Godwin after defenses have settled into defending the run.
