Well Augusta goes back to being Augusta for another Year.**

LOL -at least they've got one weekend and to be fair ...

it's a pretty big one. Honestly, I spent a good bit of time in Augusta aroud 25 - 30 yrs ago and I found it to be an OK place, but all the locals trash the Hell out of it, so I figure I might as well, too.

TEE, I think you're correct. Augusta National is tired of the

"Tiger" crap. (and Nike BS)..time to return to the real champs.

It can be a Fun Place but the fun moves around and You have

to Know the Right Folks.

I hear that ...

dated a gal that was as local as it gets and she usually knew where the fun was. She knew it too well at times and not to my benefit.

lived in Augusta in Jr. High and High School..

Thought it was a great place. Doubt I would ever move back, but that was an easy town to have a good time.

People talk trash about everyplace...it's our nature. Look at THIS place..

How many times have you heard someone talk crap about this site?

I grew up in Augusta. It's just as good as any other place.

It's the same with Macon. Folks in surrounding counties brag

about how long it has been since they have set foot in Macon, and I 'spect it is the same relationship between Agusta and the folks in places like Evans and Lincoln County. I think it is mostly true these days, but I must say that back in the day I used to hardly ever go to Atlanta because Macon had everything I wanted without the many drawbacks of the ATL. Besides, I could go see Wet Willie and many, many other great bands any night of the week and Grants Lounge and the Red Lamp, and see the Allman Brothers (with Duane and Berry Oakley) for free on any Sunday in the Summer in Central City Park. Atlanta couldn't hold a candle to that. It was what Athens was later on with REM, the B52s, etc., except Macon was more down to earth and funky. Now I wouldn't give you 2 cents for it.

Nowadays I live about 35 miles from Roanoke Virginia, and I find the place a gem of a small city. Don't give a shat about going to Richmond or DC, but I never did anyway.

Believe it or not, but Augusta-Aiken area likes to have a good time....

all year long, you just have to get in the right groove. If you meet the right people in the Summerville-Hill area, Surrey Tavern, the partridge Inn, Sheehan's Pub, Indian Queen the party pretty much goes all spring & early summer. Aiken as a good little vibe 20 minutes away too. One thing about Augusta is the best social life revolves around the country club.

It was Chevy's back when I was running the streets hard. Even though I live near the lake, I work and still enjoy going downtown for an occasional beer and dinner. But the comment earlier was right, if you've lived here all your life and know a lot of people its a great place to live.
