I was told sometime back that Brian Shottenheimer favored the West Coast offensive philosophy and would probably try to incorporate those concepts into his scheme at GEORGIA. I'm thinking Bill Walsh, RBs and TEs, short to intermediate range passing in a predominantly horizontal passing attack. and the QBs learn to read and alter their drops to get the ball out on "hot routes" at three steps if necessary.
The confusion comes from the original designation of the old Don Coryell system at San Diego as the West Coast system. This I'm told is the Shottenheimer approach. This is a much more vertical attack with lots of motion to help with presnap reads on defensive coverages.
The vertical attack may favor Ramsey and his stronger arm and quicker release,, while the horizontal would not require as strong an arm, but puts a premium on accuracy. Just some thoughts on the QB competition. I know there a lot of other variables.
