A guy who has been a good friend and very connected in the AD for many years has told me that if Fox has a losing conference record he is gone. Didn't mention NIT, or winning games in SEC tourney, which may or may not factor in. Said Greg was leaning towards making a move last year, but was talked out of it by some Fox supporters. I trust my source.

It is amazing to me to read post from folks here who only a couple weeks ago were telling me that Crump shouldn't even get minutes in back to back blowout wins. I said he should be getting many more minutes than that, but at least give him those to make him feel he is still part of the team and get at least basic playing time ' cause we would be needing him at some point. Then the bs practice argument came up and as anyone can see over the last couple weeks there is very little chance that practice has played any part in who is getting pt. Of course, what Crump does in games seems to have little to do with his minutes game to game. I posted a few reasons why Crump is our best option at point and Dan told me the most important thing is he makes the D spread the court for Yante. Not really. When Crump is at the point his man will not be doubling on D of course, but the defender on the point never does. He keeps pressure on the ball. The advantages Crump bring to the point, which I've been pointing out for quite a while, are he gets the ball up the court faster, initiates the offense quicker with crisp passes to the wings after penetrating farther into the halfcourt with his head up. That means we start our offense from the fouline extended most of the time, instead of above the key. That has our wings in a scoring position and, or a better angle to make the post feed.

Tyree is not a natural point, imo, but he is our best option right now. I have never bought into his lack of defense argument. He does make some mistakes, but they are from bad positioning and not lack of hustle. That is correctable through good coaching and improved help defense by the team. He takes some questionable shots for sure, but he also makes a decent % of them. That is just who he is. With increased confidence and minutes I think his shot selection will improve. He is quick on the drive and should be encouraged to do so since he also is a good ft shooter. If we ran the break more we would see some eyeopening assists from him as he sees the floor very well, especially in transition. If Fox had used Tyree over the past two seasons allowing him to mature through mistakes and giving him confidence instead of an incredibly short leash that led to turnovers and forced shots trying to make things happen in limited minutes he would certainly be averaging 12-14 ppg and and 4 assists....more in an uptemp game. He can easily make the transition to a scoring two guard, if Hightower develops as he should, or if we play more uptempo, which would allow Turtle to be more effective at the point. and still get plenty of assists handling the ball on the break at times. And finally, I believe Tyree has some leadership qualities. He is fiery on the court and always supportive and positive on the bench, even when he wasn't getting any minutes.
