The point of the Republican Party is to provide legitimacy to the left wing revolution.

I loathe them with every fiber of my being. The republicans voting for this will enjoy the lower circle of hell next to Brutus and Judas Iscariot.

I envy those of you old enough to have voted for southern democrats.

At least you still got some true believers-this was from today-

This is actually the perfect illustration of our current political leaders.

You have the confused and tired Boomer quote Goebbels to show how evil something is, then we have the fat female congresswoman hyperventilate “he quoted a nazi!”, and the witness, who works for an NGO, is meanwhile trying to lobby for more censorship.

They are all evil

Insane. We need more America days.

We have a Vererans Day, and a Pride month. Think about that.

Black history month, and nothing to honor all the union soldiers who voluntarily died to free the blacks when they were slaves.

If you put the monkeys in charge of the circus, you get what you get.

Memorial Day honors Union soldiers who died. In fact, their deaths were the origin of Memorial Day. Also some of the memorials were specifically celebrated by freed black slaves to honor dead Union soldiers.

Correct. It was created for that. But is certainly not celebrated that way any more.

Do you se anyone celebrating the victors of the civil war when you are at memorial day barbecues? I certainly don’t.

I’m not sure what you’re really getting at here. Are you upset because we don’t run around saying that day is only meant to be about Union soldiers who died? How would you propose they be celebrated? I mean isn’t the day about all American service members who have died fighting for the US? the origins of which was for the Union soldiers who died fighting the Civil War? I guess I’m not really seeing what your complaint is here. 🤷‍♀️

My complaint is precisely what I said above. That the sacrifice of the generous, selfless Union soldiers is not celebrated, or even discussed during any part of black history month.

Then you said it’s celebrated during Memorial Day. And I stated that it basically never is.

ok, so you want it celebrated during black history month??

They are celebrated, honored IMO via Memorial Day. Maybe not as on the forefront now because the US has been involved in many other conflicts since. And given our short memories and social media driven society, we talk more about the ones who have been lost more recently.

I was pointing out though Memorial Day was established for the dead Union soldiers, so they do have a special observance. of course Memorial Day has evolved into honoring all those who have died fighting for this country, which I think is natural.

I don’t think anyone “voluntarily” died. No one wants to die. Think about the draft riots in NYC, or is your history knowledge so lacking that you don’t know? I bet on the no knowledge, because your stances on issues are so bad. Nice little monkey, do what you’re told.

True. Should have said voluntarily enlisted and then died. You got me.

My recollection is that conscription occurred later in the war and was a minority of Union soldiers. If either of those ideas is incorrect, feel free to correct.

Yes, I want it celebrated during black history month. Because that month would not even exist without their sacrifice. It should actually be about 3/4 of the month.

Wrong. Some blacks were free before then and MANY made contributions before the war broke out.

As a poster stated, Memorial Day was initially for the Union Soliders. That holiday is still celebrated, even if it has widen to include all of our fallen heros.

Blue Dog Democrats were awesome! We need them back combined with some close to center Republicans for a strong third party.

The idea the war between the states was about slavery is fiction.

First off the abolitionist movement was roundly condemned across the country as Unitarian heretics. They were wicked men.

Second you could probably count the number of staunch abolitionists in the union army on one hand.

Hell roughly 1/4 of federal troops by the end were immigrants that could hardly speak English they had no idea what the war was about. Not to mention the vast majority of occupying federal troops during reconstruction were immigrants.

The corwin amendment was even offered but rejected by the secessionists states.

Lincoln didn’t free the slaves in union territory.

The slaves he “freed” where all in the confederate states and the reason he did so was to incite slave revolts.
