Can anyone point to instances where all this “misinformation” has led to a bad outcome for someone? Be specific. To hear the talking heads, you would think thousands are jumping off cliffs distressed about the rumor mill. And their hopelessness is all due to these rumors.
Or maybe these rural window licking Neanderthals can actually decipher what is and what isn’t bullshit loony conspiracy, look past it, and seek FEMA help if it suits them beyond what good non government folks have already provided.
People spreading dumbass rumors is the constant. Has always happened. Always will. The new dynamic is using this to try and completely whitewash legit issues and terrible unforced political errors in terms of optics, from the Biden / Harris team.
Bush was crucified for Katrina. The entire State of Louisiana hated FEMA. I remember being there fishing months after. It is all anyone could talk about. In that case, as in this case…..I’m sure all the criticism was warranted in fact. But it was there anyway, and the media piled on. It is and will be there for awhile here too. At least the media isn’t piling. And team Bush wasn’t on every corner screaming about misinformation getting in the way of people needing help.

It’s not “people spreading dumbass rumors”, it’s the current GOP nominee for POTUS and many of his elected supporters. He and his supporters are lying. They aren’t spinning, they aren’t shading the truth, they are lying and it’s creating more anger and anxiety then would be happening anyway.
Do you think Trump is helping the situation? Do you think he cares in any way about the people he is lying to? This is the entire problem. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself, and that’s NOT a good character trait for the guy who wants to lead the free world again.

they have run entire ads that are misinformation. The deniro ad was bs. The project 2025 ad is false. You are right. We just expect it to not be true these days. Like when numbers are released. Stone wondered why we were so cynical. There is good reason.
