A lot of names come to mind, such as Walter Johnson, Cy Young, Bob Feller, Bob Gibson, Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan and others. My choice would be Sandy Koufax; he was such a fabulous picture. His nickname was “the left hand of God.” He had a career ERA of 2.56; his prime last seven years ERA was 2.48. Vin Scully said that Koufax’ curveball went from 12 to 6, the best curveball I’ve ever seen. His fastball was clocked at 100 mph. His major league career lasted 12 years; he retired prematurely after the 1966 season because of constant pain in his left elbow due to arthritis. When I watched him pitch, I just automatically thought he would pitch a great game and win. He was almost unhittable. Your choice?
