Cavan knows the lay of the land inside BM maybe better than anybody. My guess He will be a buffer between behind the scenes powers and Kirby, along with His daily functions.
Well CMR admitted he didn't like all the PR work a HC is expected to do. He preferred witnessing, family time and coaching. Very admirable stuff but the fact was he was being paid 4 million to coach. And one of the HC's jobs is PR. Attending Bulldog Club meetings, not sending assistants, etc. People want to see the head coach, imo.
I think this is a great way to buffer or filter some of that so Kirby's time will have the right balance. Nobody would be better at that than Cavan.
Don't think it is an "advisor" position per se. More of a "right hand man" to filter the "noise", etc and balance all a HC has to do.
Why would he been insulted?
Ever owned or run a company? Think Myer and Saban have assistants that help run the admin part of the job? You bet.
It is officially "Assistant to", not advisor I believe.

Never owned a company or ran one. Didn't need to or have the headache. I was going by what the AJC article said. If the guy needs extra help-it's ok with me. Kind of like if you scared just say so-I have no problem with it.
Job wasn't created but was requested. So does Cavan have another title or was job created?
Cavan's been there for a while in a PR type job, keeping up with former players and fundraising.
Cavan is a good ole boy within the UGA athletic community, and he is cut from the same mold as Goff, Kirby and Bobo. All of them are sons of Georgia high school coaches, all played for UGA, all chose the college coaching profession.
