I feel like every single CFB season goes by and I'll see players perhaps breakout in the NFL early on and think, "I wish I would've seen that guy in college...he's fun to watch." There's just so much CFB from coast to coast that's it's nearly impossible to see everyone.

I think it would be cool to drop some names in this thread now and perhaps throughout the season to alert folks to really good players in CFB they may not have seen.

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned Ashton Jeanty of Boise St. I think he's the best RB in CFB and is going to be a high NFL draft pick. (I would say he's #1 for draft-eligible RBs at this time.) If you haven't seen him, watch him! He's special.

Everyone has probably watched USC QB Miller Moss by now. I think he's outplaying his physical attributes but makes for a really good CFB QB. Has that Drew Brees vibe to him.

The latest guy I've been watching is John Mateer, QB for Washington St. This cat is what's beautiful about CFB. He's just an odd talent that is sort of a Frankenstein of a mix of many guys you've seen in the past.
  • He has a Bernie Kosar, Max Scherzer throwing motion that you'd think gets batted down all the time but he finds passing windows and is often outside the pocket.
  • His overall game has a Stetson Bennett feel with closer to a Baker Mayfield build.
  • Despite that 3/4 or sidearm delivery, he puts a lot of zip on the ball.
  • He's a huge threat on the ground with 425 yards rushing so far.
If you get a shot, watch him. I don't think you'll see him at the next level but he's perfect for college football.

What are names a bit off the radar you have seen that stand out? (only want to hear about those over 17 years of age, please)
