I don't forsee anytime soon that UGA would build a new Stadium, but in the great Arms races that dominate the SEC... Yes I am looking at you Auburn with your Jumbotron making up for the lack of size elsewhere...

Which SEC power will be the first to go bigtime and knock down one of these old legendary landmarks, and put up a new shiny stadium in it's place?

I just cant imagine UGA ever not playing at Sanford... I cant imagine the Vols not being in Neyland... I cant imagine the Gators ever crawling out of that Swamp...

I have never been to Carolina, but I heard that's a crappy venue...
Looks like Auburn might HAVE to stay in that stadium now with that Jumbotron...

Where would you likely guess the first "modern" stadium will hit the SEC?

Could you be okay with a "NEW" Sanford Stadium?

Sure, tear it down. We should be playing in a domed stadium...

...somewhere in the metro Atlanta area. It could double as a concert venue, and we wouldn't have to worry about anyone hurting those dumb hedges.

Why caint all atlanta teams just play in the dome why the heck are we building a new stadium ticket prices are two high. We caint shell out 1,000 for a ceapy product

The most recent completely rebuilt SEC stadium occurred in 1973 by Kentucky, when Wildcat football moved from Stoll Field/McLean Stadium to Newton Field/Commonwealth Stadium...............

I don't think it will happen in the next 50 years

Sanford is in good shape structurally, and as far as capacity, there is really only so big you can go. Michigan was at over 100,000 in the mid 50s, and that seems to be the approximate cap before people are sitting so far away that they might as well be home.

There is a reluctance to enclose the west end fully, but I think we'd do that before we built a new stadium from scratch. That will probably happen in the next decade - we are going to need to do something to stay competitive with LSU, Alabama, and even Auburn now doing an expansion.

Carolina would be the only one I could see doing it. It's a dump in the middle of a superfund site so it doesnt really have that on-campus historical feel that most of the SEC schools have.
