A few weeks ago, Wifey was telling me about her good friend. She told me that her friend (we'll call her Mary) had taken out a $25K loan to give to her 23 yr old son and his wife to go to some small town around Atl to open a tanning salon to help them get out of her house and start their own life..
When she told me, I said "NOOoooooooo!!!" Told her Mary could kiss that $ goodbye and he'd be back demanding more $ and eventually move back in with Mom.
Last night Wifey updated me and informed me that they had blown through all $25K within two weeks and wanted Mary to take out another $25K loan. They just made a comedy of errors, coupled with their youth and absolutely no business sense.
Wifey told Mary that the son needed to get a job while the wife ran the business. Mary got all defensive and explained that the wife couldn't be trusted with money and her son can't work for anyone, "He's a boss by nature, not a worker"
My God almighty!! Can people really be that ignorant?
Told Wifey my take is that Mary is an over protective mother and wants the son to fail so he can move back in with her so she can take care of her little boy.
Only possible scenario I could come up with.
D,JD!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, this was the kid that got sent to some kind of

Military teen challenge program as a last chance before being sent to juvy when he was like 16.
Just nucking futs!

I'm literally LOL at that as well. Translation- he doesn't want to work

so he calls himself the boss.

Society has lost its collective mind. My wife introduced me to a woman (I'll call her Mary) in her second marriage. Her husband gave his 20 or 30 something year old son $500K to run a Moe's joint. The son was suppose to manage it but really, it was a gift to the son. On thing after another, the place shut down. All $500K pissed away.

Understandably, the wife does not trust the husband's judgment and refuses to incorporate her own money (substantial) into the marriage which is causing a riff between them. That was his share of THEIR retirement funds. She's now shielding from him, her wealth. Damnb right. I don't expect that marriage to last.

Kids need to prove themselves to their parents but most importantly, to themselves. No damnb way would my parents have ever considered handing me a sliver spoon. Parenting got died. Left home with about $70 to my name and a car I paid for...the rest was on me. Wasn't easy but wouldn't have it any other way. At least I can look them in the eye without being reminded I pissed away 1/2 a mil. damnb.

Is that code for, bipolar maybe? Clearly, something is eff'ed up

about the kid. He needs to be under the wing of some mean arse Master Chief or Sergeant Major. Then again, maybe that level of headache is doing the service a disfavor.

While at UGA a good friend of mine called his dad- needed $$ for car repair

his Dad said OK and mailed him a $5 check. He got the message. I laughed my arse off.

Baked Ham...please. Jst curious, how'd your friend turn out? Prosperpous

and responsible?

He's doing great. But he was always an achiever. His parents never gave him any other options.

One of the worst things a parent can do is refuse to make a child grow up

It is hard to say no to a child that you love, but you have to tell them to sink or swim at some point.
