Aub student disciplined for racial taunt ...

This thread will be nuked eventually, but it’s not necessarily racist. It’s dumb and distasteful, especially nowadays.

Race is a term that means the overall physical characteristics of a person. To most people it usually means skin color.

So I have trouble believing a white person telling another white person to “go back to Uruguay”, where 88% of the population is white, is racist.

It’s bigoted and xenophobic which is enough IMO.

But this is the nation we live in these days. And another example of why race is just a social construct.

Yep. It’s definitely xenophobic. I’m just pointing out the difference between what he did and racism. He was hateful towards his ethnicity, not race. The journalists are running wild with the “racist taunt” story.

The dude’s a moron and should get banned.

But it would be wrong if he were Mexican?? Or no? I agree, WGAS, its heckling

It’s probably xenophobic at the very least. The general sentiment of “go back to ____” is just a dick thing to say and a sensitive subject. Plenty of other stuff to bring up, weak taunt anyways.

I don’t see that as any different/worse than telling someone from Tennessee to go back to Tennessee. I live in Kentucky and get told to “go back to Georgia” almost every Saturday during the fall.

Exactly and who cares?

Hey guy from Georgia, go back to Georgia. Ooh that's scathing. Hey guy from Uruguay (who happens to be playing against my team), go back to Uruguay. Who cares? Big deal. You think "guy from Uruguay" was crushed by that remark? I should hope not.

FWIW, my wife is a naturalized citizen who is easily identifiable as possibly not born here. If she was a big time division 1 athlete, I would think that telling her to go back to Malaysia or maybe even China would be par for the course if she was good enough to make the opposition want to focus on her or try to get in her head. Big deal.

My daughters were born US citizens and look asian even though they are only half asian. My 12 year old is a softball player. If she told me some dumbass opponent told her to go back to China, I would tell her the best revenge is a home run, a delayed steal or a great defensive play. I can't imagine "guy from Uruguay" would not have a similar mindset.

This is nothing new from aub. Not only is that place a disgusting stinking cesspool, it's also a safe haven where racist POS feel free to openly express their opinions.

The best example I can think of is the fat disgusting POS scumbag Reese Dismukes (pictured below looking like a fat inbred).
Ol' Reese felt so comfortable dropping the N-bomb that he actually called Reuben Foster that to his face when Foster was on a recruiting visit to aub. This was one of the reasons Foster decided to play for bama even after he got a freaking aub tattoo on his arm.

Just another shining example of an "auburn man". I'm sure he's made them proud.

This one looks like solid proof that Mr. & Mrs. Dismukes are most likely 1st cousins:

Well, if Someone stood up in front of 94,000 people when your son came into the game and called him a “N” you might feel a tad bit different.
Would this be as much of a story if the kid had told Uros Plavsic to “Go back to Serbia?”

It was a stupid thing to say. I don’t think it was racist and certainly nowhere in the vicinity of Sasser.

What i found interesting was that there was more outrage on the Board over Fields transferring than there was over Sassers actions.

Outrage?

The "outrage" was directed at the WAY the transfer was conducted.

Was there any proof that Fields even heard Sasser?

Ugh.

Definitely not from me. I made my feelings about that f-ing loser Sasser very clear. He is a disgrace to this university.

The conspiracy theories around this issue continue to live in spite of reported and accepted facts. Fields did not hear the taunt, Fields and his family were unconcerned about it until he wanted to transfer, and Fields' attorney publicly acknowledged using it to get immediate eligibility.

You will likely never convince the hard corps who defend Fields here but they will also not change reality, no matter how often they post it.

LOL, it doesnt matter if Fields heard it or not!! Are you serious!! There were plenty of people in the stands that day that DID HEAR IT, and you dont have a clue as to how it effected his parents after hearing that their son was called that, amazing how you try to minimize it. His attorney did what any good attorney would do, you have a problem with it? Go talk to the Sasser family.

Good grief. This thread doesn’t have a damn thing to do with Fields or Sasser. The people that keep beating that dead horse need to get over and move on.

It is easier to make arguments when you consistently twist what a person said.

Fields and his family did not care about what Sasser said until he wanted to transfer, as was proven by the Fields' other child matriculating here between the taunt and the transfer request.

This is not hard logic to follow unless you are hell-bent on creating a story to bash the University you claim you support, the coaching staff led by an alumnus, and many actual fans here you continue to insult, all in defense of Justin Fields.

We are moving on from this, one way or the other.

Correct. Literally nobody defended Sasser, thus that part of the story went away quickly as far as him being a topic of discussion. He was dealt with as severely as the university had the authority to do and everyone agreed that the consequences were appropriate.

This incident was no big deal. Was it immature? Yes. Was it the worst thing in the history of race relations? No. There were about 1000 Aubie coeds/students saying the exact same thing: "Go back to Uraguay!" but this guy was escorted out of the gym? Sounds like Auburn is being more racist than the comment made by this student. Furthermore, any other discipline is extreme seeing how he was simply utilizing his 1st amendment rights.

Pissed Aubarn off because they might like to buy some players from Uruguay in the future.

Gonna need a citation on that one. Link to Mars quote?
