passed away this morning. He was 86. If you live in our area and are 30 or older, then you either directly or indirectly know this fine fellow.
What a tremendous positive and Godly influence he has been to us over the years. He once owned a 60+-0 middle school football record (world record at the time) and spent decades of his career making Lyons Partin park a special rec facility. He truly has been a lighthouse of good and fatherly role model for thousands of folks from our area.
As I sit at my daughter’s UGA grad ceremony, it reminds me of the power of education and those teachers/leaders/coaches that shape you. I hope readers of this position are reminded of the influence you give to our youth.
I call some of my past coaches now by their first name, but coach callaway will always be “coach”. He continues to guide me positively even as I type.
