Your QB is the face of your program, and no matter their personal style, a leader by default of the position.

Beck: NFL first rounder who never blinked at UGA and stayed the course. This board had him written off to transfer for the last three years. It's paid off big time for him (and the team). It sounds like he's continuing that approach and coming back to finish unsettled business.

Stockton: all the guy does is work. You never hear a peep out of him or anyone in his camp. Folks forget he was THE guy in recruiting for at least a couple years. He said when he signed he was a Dawg no matter what happened. Said he wasn't the transfer type. He's been true to his word.

Puglisi: top 10 QB in his class. Committed fairly early. We add the consensus #1 QB in his class to our class and he doesn't flinch. Never wavered. And that approach is being rewarded this week.

These three QB's are poster children for our culture. They were all elite recruits and could choose an easier path, but they've chosen the path of team and individual patience. They're culture guys at the most important position.

I'm telling y'all. Stars absolutely matter, but that's never going to an issue at UGA under Kirby. It is absolutely still about getting the right guys on the bus, and the wrong guys off the bus.

The portal STRENGTHENS cultures like ours because the ones who aren't built for it eliminate themselves. Before the portal, these guys could evolve into cancers you had to manage. It's not that we won't ever lose culture guys, but when we do, it's because they can't get on the field here.

The portal will make UGA even stronger. It's a beautiful self-managing mechanism for our culture. It's frustrating on the surface, but it's a damn gift.
