GOOOOOOD MORNING DAWG NATION
VETERANS DAY 2023 EDITION.
VETERANS DAY 2023 EDITION.
I’m pinch hitting for April today. I figured she would enjoy sleeping in after what has been a joyous but stressful week as she welcomed baby Colson while juggling the duties of the dental office as well as the Wine Rack. Grandma April, sleep late and get ready for tonight’s game. You have earned it many times over. And thank you for getting us started each and every day here. You are a special person.
November 11th was originally Armistice Day. It commemorated the end of WWI…”The War to end all Wars” (YEA, RIGHT). 11th minute on the 11th Day of the 11th Month. After WWII and Korea, Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day in 1954. Unlike Memorial Day whose focus is primarily those who made the ultimate sacrifice, Veterans Day celebrates all those in uniform, past and present, who have answered the call and served the Nation.
The USA is blessed to have the strongest, most powerful military in the world today. Although we have some of the finest, most technology advanced weapons in the world, it’s the people that operate them that gives us the advantage. Most do not understand that the military is a “People Business”. To be successful in combat, you must convince (lead) your troops to do things that they USUALLY would not do under some of the most challenging conditions imaginable. General Douglas MacArthur eloquently highlighted this virtue in his speech in 1962 shortly before his death.
"Duty," "Honor," "Country."
"Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you want to be,
what you can be, what you will be.
They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail,
to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith,
to create hope when hope becomes forlorn."

America’s sons and daughters stand ready to answer the call, whenever and wherever it may come. But don’t overlook this fact; for our awesome military to be most effective, our adversaries must be fearful that we will not hesitate to use it for a just cause. Reluctance to respond to aggressive challenges can be perceived as weakness and the lack of resolve. We must stand strong and united as we face the future. Our military exists for one purpose…TO KEEP OUR COUNTRY FREE AND IT’S CITIZENS SAFE.
Today is the day we pay homage to all those to have answered the call. Happy Veterans Day…THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE. I am proud to have been a member of the Brotherhood of War.
Today is not just another home game. Athens is hosting the “Game Day” crew; Coach Mark Richt is being honored as an inductee to the College Football Hall of Fame; Our seniors will be honored as they play their last game in Sanford Stadium; we have a 26 game win streak, soon to be 27. NOW, let’s hope the weather cooperates and the DAWGS take care of business.
Prayers for all sick, hurting and in need.
Happy Saturday & Game Day everyone. How sweet it is to be a Georgia Bulldog 2X National Champion. ENJOY THE RIDE.
