I don't care for the H2H argument as an absolute re: Bama and Texas

because it doesn't necessarily hold water if you start taking it out to extremes.

Obviously, they have the same record (so far), so I get that.

But, what happens when you start looking at other factors?

Their game was very early in the season. I'd argue Bama has looked increasingly better while Texas has regressed in some ways.

Then, look at who beat Texas. Taking it to an extreme, suppose Texas had lost to, say, Baylor (3-8) instead of OU. Would you still unequivocally say it doesn't matter, they still own the H2H? What if they had even more squeakers against average to lousy teams?

Maybe some folks are qualifying their argument by saying OU is still a decent team and it was a rivalry game, but others just seem to pin their entire argument on "Beat Bama H2H, nothing else matters," which I think is wrong.

Your thoughts?
