"Horace King made history on his first play as a Georgia Bulldog. But the first African-American to play football at UGA nearly chose to play elsewhere. It was 1971, and racial tensions were high, when King joined Richard Appleby, Clarence Pope, Chuck Kinnebrew and Larry West, in comprising Georgia's first group of black football players."
