A number of our sister sites are doing a feature called the 3 -2- 1.
Three observations
Two questions
One prediction.

I'll give it a try.

Observations

1. I have been hearing the QB race is down to Greyson Lambert and Jacob Eason. Now since Kirby Smart has mentioned body language in the past, I will do so as well. I went back and looked at my pictures from spring and Lambert just looks unsettled. There are rumors of him not being too happy. To a casual observer I can see why that rumor got started. Eason is trying to catch up and Brice Ramsey is bouncing around all smiles. To see the guy who may be losing his job for the second time in his career looking at the ground all the time, like he is kicking rocks, well folks extrapolate that to the n-th degree. Just like injury news gets worse with the telling. So I won't agree with those rumors. But if he had won the job, I would expect different body language.

But back to the point, I know for a fact Smart is hesitant to start a freshman. That has to be true of all coaches. So the real question is can Eason demonstrate enough command of the play book to overcome that hesitation? If he can't, then Lambert is your man. In other words, I don't think they have settled on anyone just yet. Just my observation.

2. What a difference one player makes. Look at the difference having Tyler Catalina move up to the startling left tackle has made. In the second scrimmage, Georgia ran the ball very well. Allowing Wynn to move inside, where he is one of the best guards in the SEC, is a huge boon. Now all of a sudden Sam Pittman has Dyson Sims/Lamont Gaillard who can rotate in at either guard spot. A real left tackle and and three real guards... I can't imagine how happy Nick Chubb is right now.

3. Give Tony Ball some credit. Yes Georgia's former wide receiver coach was not known for his recruiting acumen. In fact, he was often considered a liability on the trail. But as a position coach he was one of the best I have covered. As for the credit he deserves, Ball targeted Michael Chigbu early on in the process. That was one of his top targets. Now as a sophomore, Chigbu is running with the first team and will finally give the Bulldogs a perimeter blocking presence. Yes he can catch the ball and has looked impressive in camp. But think of this: Terry Godwin, Isaiah McKenzie and Reggie Davis average 176 pounds. They are 5-11, 5-8 and 6-foot. Chigbu is 36 pounds heavier and 6-foot-2. Add in Riley Ridley (6-2, 197)and the Georgia wide receiver corps looks very different.

Questions

1. What is Georgia going to do at kicker? At punter? Smart may feel better about it but I am concerned. We don't get to see much of the specialists during practice -besides the one open practice- and that was not going to fill anyone with confidence. William Ham has quite the leg but I wish we could see more.

2. Who would have predicted this? Dominick Sanders has turned out to be one of the top safeties in the SEC, despite the fact he was basically a last second addition (Jan 28). Quincy Mauger was supposedly only getting a scholarship to play for Georgia in order to land his teammate Brendan Langley. Aaron Davis was a glorified walk-on who, when we reported he was running with the first team, caused a mad scramble to determine where he came from. And let's not forget Malkom Parrish, as we all know he is too short to play in the SEC. Who knew?

Prediction

1. I mentioned him before but I think Riley Ridley is going to be the break out star among the wide receivers. I had previously mentioned Jayson Stanley as my prediction and I do expect big things from him. And it looks like Chigbu is a starter and McKenzie and Godwin are game changers. But there is something about Ridley that makes me think we are about to see flashes of his older brother.
