It was a roller coaster of moments throughout the game. We went from looking absolutely shook in the 1st half to never quitting in the 2nd half. As talented as Kentucky is, and at their place on a Saturday night with their coach pleading their fans to go nuts the whole time, was always going to be difficult. Then when their 7'2" center, Big Z, became eligible and started playing like Pistol Pete, it went from basketball game to rock concert. The moment definitely effected us, and we looked overwhelmed on defense and offense, but especially defense.

1st half
Our guards had trouble with the ball. Hill had five turnovers in the 1st half alone. Guards were shooting airballs from 10 feet and in. But it was our defense that was the main culprit. We gave up 54 points. They hit 7 for 12 from three. The three's were bad, but honestly it felt like the whole night we just couldn't move our feet on defense. Then we couldn't rotate well on the pick and roll. Then we over committed on help defense. Our defense was a mess the whole night. But credit Kentucky, this is what they do. They are an offensive machine and they were running full steam tonight.

2nd half
Jabri and Silas Demary went off. We scored 61 points in the second half, Jabri (23) and Silas (18) combined for 41 of them. Jabri finished the game with 34 points and Demary with 22. Both career highs. Jabri and Demary were the two that looked like they belonged on the court with that band of future NBA players that Kentucky has assembled. Hopefully it is a huge springboard in their confidence.

Stats
Threes: We were 7 for 24 tonight from 3 for 29.2%. Jabri hit all seven (7 for 14). The rest of the team was 0 for 10.
Kentucky was a scorching 14 for 25 from 3 for 56%.

I have never in my life seen a UGA out of bounds play work as well as it did tonight. Kentucky was absolutely freaked out over our corner three or were either just trying to steal the pass and man we got at least four lay-ups off that thing. Wild.

We should take pride in not quitting. We should also have self-awareness that we have a long ways to go. We need to work on defense everyday leading up to the LSU game to get our mojo back.

Tonight's game was basically playing with house money as it would have felt like almost a miracle to win. The game Wednesday night against LSU...now that is a war. We need that one in the worst way. Get the Steg packed and crazy. We win Wednesday and we are just fine and rolling. Let's get it!!! Go Dawgs!!!
