“It don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got that wing.” Utter domination from Florida’s wings versus our wings tonight. They just absolutely smoked us. Florida’s wings Riley Kugel, Will Richards, and Myreon Jones combined for 57 points. Our three wings of Holt, Jabri, and Kario combined for 23 points. A 57-23 advantage to Florida at that position. Very, very hard to win at the discrepancy. Jabri and Holt played a billion minutes and only got one shot off between them the whole game. But hey, at least they hit that one 😳😁. We thought it was Roberts earlier in the year just going rogue and trying to do it by himself. Nope, it’s Hill too. Our offense consists of the point guard driving, Kario driving, or getting it to Bridges. The ball never moves. Never.
3 point shooting
With McBride out tonight you really only felt like we had 1, maybe 2, three point shooters (Jabri and Hill). We proceeded to hoist them up like we were all Steph Curry. Roberts and Kario are both a good bit south of 30% from three in conference play. Kario was 0 for 7 tonight. Roberts was 1 for 4. Not good. Someone needs to tackle Kario everytime he sets up to shoot from three. Hill joined those two with a 1 for 7 night himself. We finished up 4 for 22 from three.
Tough Break
The only chance for us to really get an open 3 for our shooters in the current offense is for Bridges to get cooking and then start firing it to Jabri and others. Well, as great as Bridges has been the last 5-6 games, he was bad tonight. Mr. Efficiency normally from the field, he goes 3 for 11 tonight. He worked his butt off and tried hard but it was one of those nights where it was rimming out.
Sheer Athleticism
They were just more atheltic than us. We were having a really hard time staying in front of them. Their wings were smoking by us when they wanted too.
Portal Up
It pains me to say this. I absolutely love watching the hoop dawgs, but it feels like it would be better to stop the season now. We are losing some of our seasons momentum by the game. Roberts goose looks like it’s cooked. They just kept tapping the ball away from him from behind. 4 turnovers. I’m ready to see what White can do with that portal. Right now. Keep fighting, boys. We will be watching, but it’s really rough right now.
