For years, and even out of Nick Saban’s own mouth, we heard that Georgia football was the best job in America. Now, not only is it the best job due to perceived (and real) advantages, it’s the best job because there isn’t a giant of all time directly to the west. The only blockade to pure dominance has stepped aside. Kirby Smart may only be around for 7-8 more years, but my gut feeling is they’ll be even better than his first 8.
This part won’t be popular, but I’ve never gotten the fascination to “wanting to beat Saban in Tuscaloosa.” I want to win. I don’t care who we beat or where we beat them. Whichever path or timeline is the most conducive to winning championships is the one I want to be on. Call it “beta” or whatever, but the fact remains that the only tenable roadblock to Kirby Smart owning this sport disappeared about an hour ago.
