I used to be a car guy back in the 70's. Owned my dream car, a 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ. 455 ci, bad mamajamma everything. NOTHING passed me. Averaged about one speeding ticket per month for the good part of a year. Had a buddy with a black '71 Olds 4-4-2 and we knew a guy in Decatur with a sky blue Pantera. Zoom zoom! Cannonball Run couldn't hold a candle to some of the burns we used to run. Yeah, I know.... young, stupid, irresponsible, etc.
Now I'm older, wiser, older, slower. So today I'm sitting at a stop light here in Columbia. And I glanced at the noisy little motor buggy next to me. Chevy Cobalt. Pretty blue color. Then I saw that... emblem. It professed itself to be an 'SS'! Super Sport! No frickin WAY! 'SS' always meant a screamin Chevelle or Impala from the 60's, or maybe a Camaro from the 70's. But a COBALT?! Will they tag it on a Fiat next? Oh my Gawd, what a travesty!
